‘A fascinating football match’: Surely it is that. That impenetrable back line of the Spanish side vs. the determined, impossibly creative Argentine attack. How is it that this matchup is so wonderful for the entire sports world? I can only be described as a, ‘casual fan’ of the game. But I haven’t missed one match over the past month - driving my wife absolutely batty. It has been incredible. My only hope is that the game is decided in some manner other than a controversial penalty - or a horrific call by the multi-tek adorned official. As an aside, all those appendages on the officials remind me of, “The Borg” in Star Trek lore…. Thanks as mentioned above for a little analysis that goes beyond the simplistic narratives offered by the media.

Well, here in Arizona, we have no end to the season for stories about the State University (ASU for short) and their never ending quest for relevance in American college football - where many players, uh excuse me, professional athletes who are quite well paid to play college football and also have the opportunity to reap the benefits of a free education if they so desire - which rarely comes to anything one could call interesting or exhilarating. But we get them nonetheless. But that cannot ruin for me personally an increased yearning for following high end futbol from Europe and the Americas. Not the American “MLS” but COPA America and European League (s).The time difference for the EURO games is problematic but not impossible and the payoff is worth it.
